Wonderful accommodations and a great way to spend two nights after days of camping out.
We used the deck to dry out our camping gear. The mudroom was fantastic for drying out our hiking gear–lots of hooks for coats. (Note, no shoe rule in the house so you may want to bring slippers/sandals/thick socks.) Giant dining table let us sort out our food supply, and charge up our electronics, and eat dinner/breakfast without having to shuffle things around.
Kitchen is fully stocked right down to kids’ sippy cups. It was the first time we didn’t need to use our own kitchen items that we take on our trips. Dishwasher always a bonus.
It was just the two of us so we only used the downstairs. The king bed was soft, but still worked for us Tempurpedic fanatics. I loved the look and feel of the comforter. Lots of soft pillows. Bench at the foot of the bed great for holding two duffel bags. Access to washer and dryer is direct from this room–detergent and dryer sheets supplied. About a dozen hangers in walk-in closet.
The lid on the hot tub was broken, so yes, it was a bit difficult to take lid off and place back on. The owners have it on order, but as with everything during COVID it’s on backorder. Not mission impossible to remove the lid, but some may not have enough strength to make it happen. The hot tub itself is wonderful and we made use of it the 2nd night. Nice touch on providing bath robes. We did wonder about the lid and how it got broken, but we’re pretty sure it was a gang of angry forest squirrels that got in there and chewed up the inside foam — or perhaps we were much too influenced by listening to Jenny Lawson’s audiobook, Let’s Pretend This Never Happened.
We liked that the giant couch faced the outdoors. We’re reading and outdoor fanatics and not TV buffs. It’s an L shaped couch so those who like TV will have a good viewing spot, as well. The massage chair provided for some wonderful laughs cause my sore calf muscles in combo with the leg massage was simply a shocking combo that resulted in fits of laughter. Husband was all about laying back and getting the full benefits of the chair.
Bathroom shower/tub combo was great. Good water pressure. Kirkland brand shampoo/conditioner/body wash provided. Easy to adjust the water temperature. Tons of towels. There is basically no counterspace around the sink, but there are shelves above the toilet and hangers to hang toiletry bags on. So, overall not bad, just not my favorite combination in a bathroom.
Communication from the host, Cecelia, was fantastic. She responded very quickly. We just had a question regarding the heating units in how to get them going. (Apparently, you had to set all three mini-split units on the same exact setting in order to get them to do what you wanted to do. And they don’t synch up. You have to manually set each control to the same thing. This is really strange. And definitely a huge nay for us on mini splits even thought they’re supposed to be really energy efficient. There has to be a better way…)
Complimentary bottle of red wine provided for our stay. Another nice touch.
Hiking recommendation: Ptarmigan Ridge. The views are fantastic from beginning to end and you go about as far as your feet can take you. Trailhead is about a 45 minute drive from the cabin and Forest Pass required or $5 day use fee.
