July 18, 2021 – Family Hike – Panorama Point via Skyline Trail out of Paradise
View Route Details: AllTrails Map of our Route

Off on another trail with the honey and a special guest…
My Dad! His first official hike-hike.
This photo album is really mostly about my Dad. In Hungarian: Apuci.
Off to do a trip around the “base” of Rainier.
Have I mentioned that the ONLY day that we didn’t get ANY views of Rainier was on our wedding photo shoot day?
A hike out of Paradise is never complete without its local residents. But Mr. Marmot was not feeling very social this early in the morning.
And Mrs. Chipmunk got highly disturbed by human presence. So much so that she relocated her home!
Apuci taking a pic of me taking a pic of Marya taking a pic of Geof and somewhere on David’s camera is a pic of me taking a pic of this.
Screen shot from a video. Marya leading the pack: Geof, David, and Apuci.
Gorgeousness down below and I kept showing Apuci that just half an hour ago we were down on that trail below. It’s one foot in front of the other — that’s all it takes
The melting mountain-devil slug monster from Camp Muir pics is just to the left of that water fall.
To get to Camp Muir you take a part of the Panorama Trail.
Best dressed hiker award goes to: My Dad!
(Had I known he was gonna join in on our hikes I would have suited him up in full on hiking gear at REI Spokane before taking off for the wedding week.)
Seriously. These views. I mean. Come on! (Or better, yet, let’s go there again!)
Also, these were the backup mountains we had planned for wedding photo shoot day which were also totally NOT visible. LOL (I’m seriously not at all sad about it — the photos we have are amazing and I loved it that I wasn’t one bit hot.)
This is Day Two of me obsessing over discovering that my new iPhone actually takes good selfie pics.
(iPhone 7 versus iPhone 12.)
Apuci looking off at Tatoosh Range and Mount Adams in the far distance. I simply adore him.
My brother-in-law, Geof, and his fantastic better half, Marya. Lunch hour!
Dad taking in the sights.
The sights.
Have I mentioned I adore him?!?!
We haven’t gotten to see each other since December 2019 and even then only for 2 days.
This time I got to kidnap him for a full week!
My Dad would keep hyper speeding ahead of everyone and I had to keep telling him to slow down, that there’s absolutely no rush. He kept worrying that he would hold us up. The people in the middle down below on the trail are Marya, Geof, and David.
My Dad and I hiking up, up and above – once again – ahead of everyone.
Love you David for taking this pic of Dad and me — of us hiking below Rainier turned moon.
Pretty sure my Dad is pondering his next getaway from me cause once again I made him pause to wait for the rest of our group to catch up.
(Sure enough, yes, he sped away again.)
Made it to Panorama Point.
Awwwww… “the newlyweds” à la 2021.
The wildflowers were amazing on this July trip. Every year, same time of year, Rainier brings us a completely different landscape. (July 2020 was all about the snow and July 2019 was muddy and wet.)
Did I mention I love the selfie option on my new iPhone?
Time to head back to our 3600 sq foot cabin…
(Copper Creek Inn’s Tahoma Canyon Home ROCKS!)
…but before we leave the trail gotta smell the flowers.
Oh, so many pretty flowers.
nd! The marmot straight out of National Geographic. This guy totally stole the show as he would stand tall, look out at the mountains as its fierce guardian, and then turn 45 degrees every two minutes and show off his profile.
Its most famous one being the beer belly.
His hands are sooooo adorable!!!
(Anyone wanna give me a word count on how many times I used “adorable” and “adore” in this album?)
My Dad hiked 5.2 miles on a trail that’s rated moderate. He did it wearing tennis shoes, khakis, his “engineer shirt,” hat, a borrowed pair of hiking poles, and the biggest smile. I’m so incredibly proud of him and can’t help, but hope to be able to go on more trails with him in the near future.
