Yes, to those who love stories that incorporate outdoors, nature, and animals.

Thoughts?

Loved it!

My grown up self loved this book as much as my teenage self would have loved it.

I’m not sure I can truly explain why I loved this book so much. It’s just a feeling that it created as I read it. And I loved it.

I had shelved it on the back burner cause, well, it takes place in 1934, which is Depression era. I wasn’t ready to read another cry my eyes out super sad story like The Four Winds. Echo Mountain is much-much different. It is such a heartwarming, wonderful story of a young girl who is much wiser than kids her age. Hardships, I believe, tend to do that to people–make us grow up faster.

I loved the lyrical writing style of the book. I loved the characters. I rooted for Ellie. I loved the ending.

Warning for those who are squeamish about medical things. There is a lot of puss, swelling, maggots, cutting, draining, etc. Descriptions are mild, but if you have a vivid imagination then you’ll likely cringe and squirm.
