Very important announcement. (Totally not.) After seeking referrals to graphic designers and logo artists we’ve decided to save ourselves a major project of decisions and instead I took to Canva and created this lovely logo. One that will totally do for now. David had his hand in it, too, by helping decide which was best of the many variations I created. And he said that I should slant “The Hiking Bookworms.” He was totally right about that.
We do have some fantastic (read as: grandiose) ideas for when we will have the budget (and time) to professionally create a logo. It involves an image of an open book, two hikers, and a mountain backdrop. The bookmark will be a river. The color scheme and style would be like the National Park designs they use for their collectible pins. So, lots and lots of ideas in my head, but since I can’t even draw stick people these images will remain locked in my head for a tad longer.
We needed/wanted (tough to decide which really) a logo for a stamp or sticker to place inside books we’ve read and are donating to Little Libraries wherever our travels take us (mostly Spokane). Another disclaimer… said books we are donating are duplicates of ones we currently own cause our goal is to own more books than we have bookshelf and wall space for. Luckily, I’m fantastic at organization so this will take many-many-many years.
Anywhooo… lo and behold our temporary (though likely, fairly long-term) logo:

The logo that incorporated my current business logo, but in the end, totally failed:

Another runner up, but it didn’t have a book. Nor hikers. And while we camp we don’t do it THAT often:

Big thanks to those artists that create these images that I can splice together and use for my hobby website. And many thanks to Canva Pro that allows my creative side take life. If only if I could draw.

Dear Aggie, You and David have been having fun! Your new logo is beautiful. Are the mountains drawn like Colorado mountains or like Washington mountains? Thanks for sharing your new logo with us. It’s so great that you and David can enjoy hiking and reading together. And right now I am really glad that the Pauls did not move to Florida! Matt did get a job offer in St. Petersburg. Did David tell you that Becca and Matt are getting a corgi puppy? Our first ‘grandchild’ was a purebred corgi we called our Granddog. The name her breeder gave her was Pearlie Mae. Since she already was used to that name, Becca and Matt decided to continue using ‘Pearlie’, but dropped the ‘Mae’. Today Grant is hiking with Mike, and I am heading for the pool in an hour or so. It’s a sunny morning today, after several foggy mornings when I got in the water later in the day. It’s much easier to get into too-chilly water after the sun has been on it for awhile, as I’m sure you know. Have a great day! –Love, Lei

Hi Aggie, Many thanks for sending me a copy of this email. I think the logos are all surprisingly good. The first one gets my top award; it’s really something. Please keep me on the Hiking Bookworms email list. Grant
